What's in a name?

Emily Claire Chittick. I just love her name..well of course I do, I did come up with it! Before Emily was even thought of, that was her name. Joe knew the minute kids ever came up in conversation that the first girl would be named Emily (not sure where Claire came from..just think its a classic name!). My mother's name is Emily Joan Taylor and she has always gone by Joan..but for as long as I can remember she has wanted to be called Emily...but it just hasn't happened. But, occasionally ( a lot), she will introduce her self as Emily. I remember when we were planning our wedding, we met with the caterer and apparently she had initially told him her name was Emily..so needless to say, when she showed up as Joan, he was a little bit confused! So when we found out we were having a girl, I was so excited #1 to name my daughter after the most amazing Mother anyone could EVER ask for, and #2 to finally have someone my Mom could legitimately call Emily. And, now..the Taylor sisters, who absolutely love to combine names, have renamed our Mother as Jemily.

***Today, Joe called and told me I might want to stop by the store and pick up some more pacifiers......Bailey struck again

Bailey the Birthday Girl..and a few random photos

Today, our sweet, curious Bailey turned 3...she was extra needy..and extra curious. I caught her rummaging through Emily's diaper bag, most likely looking for a bottle..or thinking she might get lucky and find herself a paci of her own. As soon as I found her, her ears went back as she waited for me to get on to her (silly girl..she knows that's Joe's job)..and of course I didn't..hello, it is her birthday.

WELL...apparently she found what she was looking for.

I know this is completely inappropriate and not in any way sanitary..but the dogs kept looking at me..they are always so concerned about her, and they love her..and I really have absolutely no reason why I put them in her bed...

Just singing..

How cute is this?!

Summer of Firsts

So, as I mentioned earlier, Emily is quite the shopper. Well, she has decided she likes to go out to eat too. She had her first lunch date with Ellie and Ali..they were all perfect and too cute. We were definitely a sight to see with all of our baby gear. Shawn's birthday was today and Emily enjoyed her first of many El Molino nights. My parents have eaten Mexican every Friday night for too many years to count, so it is only natural for Emily to love it. Her Daddy dressed her in Memphis gear...with no bow..definitely should have changed her name to Ethan for the night.

Girl's Day Out (Mexican..once again)

Happy hour...of course.

Don't fall asleep at the Chittick house! (The whitest little leg I have ever seen!)

2 month check up!

Poor little legs!!!

Wow..two months already?? It's crazy how fast the time is going by. Emily is such a cutie..she is starting to smile and interact with us, which makes all the screaming days and long nights completely worth it...(I should not even say long nights because she has decided to sleep 8hrs a night..little sweetie). She weighed in at 10 1/2 pounds today and is 50th percentile for weight and height. But, I do win the Mother of the Year award..because I was recently asked how long she was at birth..yea I could not remember! Oops..I will have to look back and find out...

Shop till you drop...

Emily has never really been anywhere except to visit family members. Honestly, the thought of taking a screaming newborn out in public sounds like a nightmare and I have never been brave enough to do it. Well, yesterday my Mom and I decided we would venture out with little Emily. Let me tell you, the girl loves to shop. She was absolutely perfect. I honestly think she has been bored out of her mind and was sick of looking at the walls of our condo..and my face.

**Something we noticed over the long weekend together...Emily's hair. I will have to find and post a picture of Lauren's hair when she was a baby. Basically, every hair on her head stuck straight up. Well...we noticed the Emily's hair lays pretty flat in the front, but towards the back/top of her head..it sticks straight up and nothing will bring it down. Business in the front, party in the back. If you look closely you can see...

Weekend Getaway

Joe had a bachelor party in New Orleans last weekend..so we packed up and moved in with my parents for a few days. The thought of taking care of Emily and two dogs made my head spin (I am just not that good yet, probably won't be until she is 18). So, as Joe got in the car with a bunch of guys, I, along with a car full of baby/dog accessories, jumped in my car and drove to Bartlett..his friends probably thought I was insane getting up at 6AM just to go to my parents house..oh well. We had a great time with Memmy and Papa doing absolutely nothing. I enjoyed a marathon of 16 and Pregnant on MTV..yes the weekend was that exciting. I kind of actually felt like I was on that show..no husband in sight, the whole upstairs to myself..and the parents cooking and cleaning up after us..it was fabulous.

Emily enjoying her hand-me-down swing from Reece. Please note the missing cushion.

We had a great time..little did we know our weekend would be extended due to a broken air conditioner..but, lucky Joe got to join the party.

Attention seeking animals..

Well..today was the day..I started working off this baby weight Emily left me with. A twenty six minute workout with Jill felt like an eternity, but I have to admit it felt great. Emily was an absolute doll today..I gave her some prescription drops and they really seemed to help..We also used just the Dr. Brown bottles today..so that may have helped too. She just hung out in her little lamb swing and probably just laughed hysterically at her completely out of shape mother.

Jillian Michaels..AKA the Devil

On a side note, I think I might need to start paying more attention to my dogs..well, Bailey at least. She is faster than lightening when it comes to swiping a paci..and I knew I had left a bottle on the ottoman........I found it under the couch in this condition. Thank you Bailey.

Don't worry..Emily will not be using this paci again..or the bottle for that matter.
