Attention seeking animals..

Well..today was the day..I started working off this baby weight Emily left me with. A twenty six minute workout with Jill felt like an eternity, but I have to admit it felt great. Emily was an absolute doll today..I gave her some prescription drops and they really seemed to help..We also used just the Dr. Brown bottles today..so that may have helped too. She just hung out in her little lamb swing and probably just laughed hysterically at her completely out of shape mother.

Jillian Michaels..AKA the Devil

On a side note, I think I might need to start paying more attention to my dogs..well, Bailey at least. She is faster than lightening when it comes to swiping a paci..and I knew I had left a bottle on the ottoman........I found it under the couch in this condition. Thank you Bailey.

Don't worry..Emily will not be using this paci again..or the bottle for that matter.

My little screamer.....

So...previously, I had posted a "1 month" picture of baby Emily..a picture with a little bit of a grin. Yea, that picture was a fluke. I would like to share with you a picture from our "1 month" photo shoot of Emily at her finest. This is the sweet little face that I see the majority of the day. I still think it's the cutest little cry face ever..but I sure hope these mini meltdown sessions do not last too much longer. No more to blog about for today due to the fact that I was glued to the rocking chair in her room.

Things I can't live without

It's crazy how quickly your life changes as soon as a baby arrives. You start to get excited over weird things like the color of poop..who would have thought? Your once favorite pair of heels or purse takes the backseat to things you probably didn't even realize existed pre baby. For example, right now my favorite things are 1.) Pacifiers, 2.) the Miracle Blanket, and 3.) Gripe Water. Maybe I should get out more???

Ok, I have to admit, I have always been a fan of pacifiers, or "foolers", as my family calls them. When I was a baby, I slept with 1 in my mouth, 1 on my chest, and 1 in each hand..so of course any child of mine is going to love them.

Ok..here it is..the Miracle Blanket. I was told by a friend of mine to order this immediately, so of course I took her advice, and should probably pay her for the amount of sleep we have been getting. We tried all the other swaddle blankets out there, but Emily would somehow wiggle a hand out and wake herself up..not fun for baby or parents. But, put this straight jacket..I mean blanket on..and they aren't going anywhere..and we get 5-6hrs of sleep a night!! And look at her..she looks like the cutest little burrito ever!

And..last but definitely not least..Gripe Water. We have tried prescription drops, Maalox, and formula after formula..but this is the only thing that comes close to soothing her poor gassy belly..might not last long, but it does the trick for a little while!

Pictures

Longest picture blog ever..but this is basically a recap of Emily's first month of life.

Welcome to the world Emily Claire

No Joe..you cannot breastfeed.

The screaming picture has a story behind it..The day we were discharged from the hospital, Joe was patiently waiting outside with the car packed.....the nurse wheeled us to the car only to find the battery is dead!! Thank you Methodist van driver for saving the day..and thank you Emily for singing to us while we waited =)

Cousins!! 4 months apart

Pretty sure Bella enjoys the boppy pillow much more than Emily

We have renamed Bella.."Mama Bella"..she watches over Emily and creepily stalks anyone that gets near her. Sweet Mama.

Emily and Bailey on their playmats....

Emily's first real bath...and Bella making sure we did things right.

How is she already a month old?!

And...we have a blog

I have never blogged a day in my life..but when you have a baby, I think it just comes with the whole Mom thing. I find myself just laughing at the situations I am in from day to day (the laughing is most likely to keep myself from crying and pulling all of my hair out)..and I definitely don't want to forget any of this new crazy life we have. Baby Emily was born on April 19, 2010 at 9:31 PM, weighing a whopping 7lbs 14oz after about 50 minutes of pushing with an epidural that absolutely did NOT work. No one can prepare you for your post pregnancy body ( I will spare you the details), the lack of sleep, and C O L I C! I mean you have to just love colic, right? The crying is just music to your ears..every waking hour of it =)And of course I cannot forget our other children, Bella and Bailey..poor things they have no idea what has hit them. But, even though I know they are tired of waking up at 2AM, they seem to kind of like this little girl. Since Emily's arrival, we have just about tried everything to soothe that little belly of hers..but I have found, as of today, that dancing like a total moron to oldies music has seemed to do the trick (Joe can't seem to grasp the dancing like a moron part-maybe when he's here with her alone he will!). Throw in some lunges and squats, and ta da..you have a work out too! She is also a huge fan of Johnny Cash..great taste in men, huh? Get ready to see a lot of pictures from her birthday until now!
